Pathways

Pathways pairs our middle and high school scholars with caring adult mentors trained through the Grizzlies Foundation. We have a waiting list of 20 students eager to be assigned a mentor. Will you serve?

 
 
 

Requirements to be a Mentor

  • Complete a volunteer application

  • Provide references

  • Pass a background check

  • Complete an interest assessment with a member of STREETS staff to best match your mentee

  • Attend a Grizzlies TeamUp orientation, a Pathways new mentor training, and Stewards of Children training (Average of 6 total hours)

  • Commit to meeting with your mentee, once a week during the school year, for a minimum of one hour, between 2:30-6pm, Monday - Friday

Expectations

  • 1 full school year commitment

  • Minimum of 1 session (1 hour) per week with mentee

  • During the session, mentors are expected to help their mentee develop life skills, expose them to cultural experiences.

STREETS mentors and mentees attend Grizzlies games together, eat at local restaurants, visit local attractions, go to movies, and so much more!

STREETS Smart

Only once students learn to read can they read to learn. Become a STREETS Smart volunteer and share the love of books once a week with an eager second grader. One afternoon a week can make a lifetime of difference.

 
 
 

STREET Smart

STREET Smart is an after-school program that pairs volunteers with elementary students to review basics in literacy. The program runs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00p.m.

Expectations: Minimum of 1.5 hours weekly commitment

Block Parties

Block Parties are our after-hours opportunity to share the Gospel with our students. Each week, staff and volunteers lead students in songs, mixers, skits, and a devotional. The evening wraps up with dinner provided and served by individuals or groups, a typical block party dinner consists of: pizza, juice boxes, small chip bags, and cookies. Bring your friend and join the fun, fill out an application here!

Bible Studies

At our core, STREETS exists to help students explore and embrace their faith. Our Bible studies help scholars dive deeper into the content from Block Parties. These grade and gender specific studies led by staff and volunteers, meet once a week, and typically consist of groups of four to eight students.

Coaching

Called to coach? Coaching allows you to be a positive role model in students' lives while helping to build character and improve self-esteem. Volunteers are needed to coach STREETS basketball, soccer, flag football, and kickball teams teams in both the ESCRA and MAM leagues. 

Coaches are required to conduct one practice a week and attend games for roughly 8 weeks.
